InvestEngine was launched in May 2019 by Gumtree co-founder Simon Crookall. In market shorthand, we are the next-generation investment platform that helps individuals and small businesses control, automate and optimise their investments portfolios. We were the first firm in our sector to launch an investment account for SMEs, income portfolios, and more recently our free DIY investing platform.

A lean start-up with big plans for innovative new services and growth, we are FCA-regulated and London-based — but very open to flexible working.

About the role

We are looking for an energetic, independent-minded Senior Investment Professional to be a key member of our team in London. This position will require the individual to be certified under the SMCR, with the scope to grow into a member of the executive team. We want someone who will focus on establishing our quantitative investment methodology and then applying this, with our development and compliance teams to bring innovative features to our customers.

You will oversee our premium or discretionary managed portfolios, and work on not only our investment products but industry wide initiatives for the business — whether the current or future proposition.

As a small but growing team, we'll want you to actively participate in all aspects of the business with a 'can do' and 'roll your sleeves up' attitude and willing to take on responsibility. As a start-up we are always developing our Products - and you'll be instrumental in the release of exciting new services for UK investors and later overseas.

  • To maintain a strong knowledge of the UK Investment Market and Regulatory infrastructure

What you will need


  • Be driven and determined to be part of a high-growth start-up team where you will have the opportunity to make a significant impact
  • To be prepared and be flexible in research through, knowledge and using industry contacts, to find answers where you may not have previous experience
  • Experience of working in financial services, ideally in B2C investment management, which will involve market abuse, best execution and the MiFID II requirements. With a sound knowledge of international expansions and pensions for UK investors
  • An understanding of investment operations and ability to help optimise systems and processes
  • Inspiring Leader of a team and influencer at all levels of an organization
  • Deep understanding of all academic and professional modern portfolio management techniques
  • Strong Knowledge of Industry Standards, FCA Rules/Guidance and other relevant legal and regulatory requirements.

  • The ability to restructure complex problems, making them more manageable, and to assist colleagues — with a service delivery attitude
  • Awareness of the changing investment management landscape and the curiosity to find opportunities in technology, market developments, though these changes
  • At least 5 years of directly relevant experience as a Senior Investment Manager or Head of Investments and have been a certified and/or Senior Management Function Holder previously.
  • Ideally have obtained industry qualifications relating investment management such as IMC (CFA) or IAD (CISI)
  • Knowledge and experience of systems required to carry out your role, including Bloomberg, Microsoft Office Suite (particularly Excel), VBA. Understanding of programming languages is desirable.

      About the Role

      We're looking for a Growth Marketer to join our team to supercharge our growth and add power to our client acquisition effort. From analysing past campaigns, client data and business intelligence, to unearthing new opportunities to grow our business.

      The ideal candidate will have a successful track record of pushing consumer facing businesses, preferably in the finance sector, to grow and optimise their acquisition channels in a fast-paced environment.

      What you'll do

      • Be a key player in defining, implementing, and optimising our growth and acquisition strategies. This may come from maintaining and developing our performance marketing channels or exploring new channels
      • Create ideas around growth opportunities and blockers, test, learn and iterate for optimal effectiveness – ultimately ensuring the right message, reaches the right audiences in the most effective way

      Who you are

      • 5+ years experience in B2C marketing in a high-performing team and company or agency with aggressive growth goals
      • You're confident in using data across all platforms to understand users or assess if your campaigns and efforts are delivering value
      • Able to demonstrate proficiency with multiple channels of paid marketing - SEM, SEO, social, mobile, display, affiliate
      • Experienced in dealing with marketing automation and user activation campaigns is beneficial
      • Strong experience in planning and executing data analysis
      • Experience and understanding of the full marketing funnel, respective KPIs, multi-touch attribution and related financial metrics

        Strategic Partnership Lead

        About the role

        We are looking for B2B partnership specialist to be a key member of our team in London. This person will establish our Partnership team, responsible for creating and maintaining key B2B relationships that drive our SME customer growth. As a start-up with little brand recognition, you will have to sell InvestEngine to potential partners, leveraging our great growth trajectory and potential customer base. You will also need to think creatively in allocating resource to achieve our strategic goals, targeting the right partners and creating relationships that will evolve and grow with the business.

        Our expectations of you

        • You will carry out the role of Partnership manager, responsible for B2B business development and creation of our Partnership network
        • Develop our B2B2C strategy for partners that can facilitate SME account acquisition and integration with third party business servicing platforms
        • Lead the entire partnership process; identify opportunities, create beneficial relationships and agree on commercial terms.
        • Monitor acquisition channels, analyse partnership quality, and adjust the strategy based on data driven metrics.
        • Have a basic understanding on development process and timeframes for partner integrations
        • Have a fundamental understanding of financial services, the products offered by InvestEngine and keep up to date on industry developments
        • Attend networking events, webinars, and relationship-building forums, as well as host similar initiatives on the part of InvestEngine.

        What you will need

        • Experience creating and developing business partnerships in financial services
        • Understanding of financial markets, investing and distribution channels for retail investment products.
        • Basic UK regulatory knowledge of high risk B2B areas such as inducements, bribery, G&E.
        • Excellent communication skills, both in terms of external relationship management and internal strategy updates
        • Awareness of the changing investment industry and ability to identify new trends and opportunities available
